As one of the largest joint-stock commercial banks in Vietnam, ABBank is striving to become a customer-friendly retail bank and one of the leading joint-stock commercial banks in the country. As of November 2009, ABBank had established 83 branches/transaction offices nationwide.


The project aims to provide a comprehensive solution for An Binh Bank (ABBANK) to build a stable and reliable high-tech infrastructure for the data center (DC) operations, meeting the following requirements:

- The Data Center (DC) must be designed, managed, implemented, constructed, handed over, and operated according to the TIA-942 standard at a tier 3 level.
- The Data Center must be designed as a Green Data Center model, operating with low power consumption, efficiency, and minimal impact on the environment.
- The Data Center must be designed with modular components, high expandability, and technology that will not become outdated for at least the next 5 years.
- The deployment time should be under 8 weeks.
- The migration from the current system to the new Data Center should not disrupt the Bank's operations.

ABBank's Data Center consists of two rooms with a total area of 100 square meters located on the 3rd floor of a 9-story building. It is constructed with the following four areas:
- Server and Network area: Includes server rack cabinets and network equipment. This area can accommodate up to 15 server rack cabinets, 5 network equipment rack cabinets, and 3 other cabinets.
- Power and Cooling area: Comprises electrical cabinets, UPS system, backup UPS batteries, and air conditioning system.
- NOC and Staging area: Consists of 2 staging racks and the overall management and operation system for the Data Center.
- Entrance area: Contains 2 connection racks for managing the data cable input and output of the system.
- Condenser (air conditioning unit) is placed in the balcony area on the same floor.

Data Center Systems

- Wall, Ceiling, and Door System: The walls are made of 2-hour fire-resistant tempered glass.
- Raised Floor System: The concentrated load capacity is 500 kilograms, and the distributed load capacity is 1250 kilograms per square meter. It is a thin-layered reinforced concrete-steel floor with load-bearing HPL (High-Pressure Laminate) that is anti-static.
- Electrical System: The electrical system is powered from the city's power grid and distributed to each power outlet for individual devices within the rack and other critical equipment in or related to the Data Center.
UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) System: Phase 1 capacity is 100KW, expandable to 300KW in Phase 2. The system is designed with Liebert NX UPS in N+1 redundancy configuration.
Air Conditioning System: Phase 1 capacity is 80KW, expandable to 250KW in Phase 2. The precision air conditioning system, Liebert PeX P3080, is installed in N+1 redundancy configuration, with a floor-mounted airflow and air-cooled heat dissipation.
Surge Protection and Filtering System for Electrical and Network Paths: The surge protection system provides high-energy surge suppression, monitors sine waves for line filtering, and is suitable for applications in an environment compliant with ANSI/IEEE C62.41 Category A, B, and C standards. The grounding system for surge protection devices must comply with the IEEE std 1100-1999 standard of the International Electrical Safety Organization.
Fire Suppression and Fire Alarm System: Pyrogen gas is used as a clean fire suppression agent, which is environmentally safe, ozone-friendly, non-hazardous to human health, and does not damage equipment.
Water Leak Detection System: Water leak sensing cables are installed around the room, along water pipes, around the air conditioning system, and in areas prone to water leakage or condensation.
Access Control and Surveillance Camera System.
Centralized Management System using Liebert SiteScan Web, monitoring, controlling, and managing the Data Center equipment, including UPS systems, air conditioning systems, power distribution units, environmental monitoring systems, lightning protection devices, and generators.
The structured cabling distribution system is built based on SYSTIMAX's cable solution, including the following cable types and standards:

> SYSTIMAX Laser SPEED® Fiber Optic Cable: 850nm Multimode supporting 10Gbps bandwidth for distances up to 550m (OM 3).
> SYSTIMAX Tera SPEED® Fiber Optic Cable: Standard 9-micron Singlemode with Zero Water Peak technology, supporting 10Gbps and 40Gbps bandwidth.
> SYSTIMAX Giga SPEED X10D® Copper Cable: CAT 6A UTP cable with a frequency transmission of 500MHz for 10Gbps in the Data Centerr.
> SYSTIMAX InstaPATCH® Plus Connectivity Solution
> SYSTIMAX iPatch® System: Real-time intelligent infrastructure management solution (RTIM).


- Sustainability: All devices have high reliability.

- Uniformity: All main devices such as UPS, precision cooling system, surge protection system, power distribution system for rack cabinets, water leak detection system, and infrastructure monitoring system are uniform.

- Scalability: The Data Center is built with the capability to expand and upgrade in the future. System expansion only involves upgrading equipment without the need for a complete system overhaul, and it does not affect the operation of other devices.

- Flexibility: The Data Center has the ability to adapt to changes in new technologies. Users can upgrade the system without affecting its operation.

- High availability: The Data Center has high availability, meeting the 24x7 continuous operation requirements of the Bank.

- Designed and deployed within a short time: 8 weeks.

- Systems operate well, meeting the project requirements.

- As the first bank with a successfully implemented Data Center, ABBANK applies the iPatch solution using Systimax technology to manage cable connections, saving costs and manpower, ensuring high security, and automatically notifying network administrators of system errors to reduce repair and operation time.
